Whitson is a graduate of Belmont University College of Law. He primarily practices in the areas of personal injury, wills, trusts, probates, business matters, and litigation regarding these areas. Whitson worked at MLT while in college at the University of Tennessee and in law school as a law clerk. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee where he graduated with High Honors.

Whitson is married to his wife, Carlee, and they live in Knoxville. When not practicing law, Whitson enjoys running, fishing, and cheering on the Vols. Whitson is a member of the Tennessee and Knoxville Bar Associations. He and his wife also attend Fellowship Bible Church in Knoxville.
