Boating in Tennessee

Looking for new ways to enjoy yourself in this new pandemic world? Enjoying the scenic views while cruising down the Tennessee River has become an evident interest since the pandemic began. The image of being outdoors in a boat, feeling the light cool wind, and soaking up the sunshine is only missing one thing: a nice cold beverage!

But not so fast!

Drinking alcoholic beverages while operating a boat in Tennessee may have serious consequences, similar to the consequences related to drinking while operating a vehicle on land. Thirty percent of Tennessee boating fatalities in 2020 involved the use of drugs or alcohol.

Keep in Mind

If you plan on boating this year, keep in mind that it is unlawful to drive a boat on public waterways while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Don’t let a day on the lake turn into a disaster. Grab a life jacket, take a boater’s safety course, and enjoy the recreational activities that our area has to offer.
